Phrases I’ve listened to repeated over and over from successful entrepreneurs are “you have to enjoy what you do to be a winner” or “…whatever you do, do what you enjoy.” I’m here to corroborate those words and tell you it’s true.

Have you discovered you’d like something much more satisfying in your career?

  • Getting into your own business but you’re not precisely sure what you want to do or,
  • Recognizing what you want however not very excited about the marketing part of getting a business?

There are a lot of research references available online or right in your own area. You’ll get great statistics and courses of study available to help you with your search. I’ll provide you with another plan of attack. The importance of pursuing your loves and your specialties is second to none.

I’ll let you in on my experience. I desired having my own business, making my own hours and being full of satisfaction in the work (love) I was supplying, all the same, marketing was the last thing I desired to do.

I recall saying to myself, a long time and even a year into my business, “who did I believe I was that I could leave status quo life and begin my own business? I’m returning to the work I Understand.” Yea, I knew the work, but it was no longer pleasing. Thankfully, my inner self challenged me, and I started to look inside at my specialties and loves. I looked at what I knew of myself to what I was doing. They didn’t agree.

4 little pokes in my side came up at that time and go on to come out sporadically:

  • What do I desire?
  • What do I require?
  • What was bringing me joy?
  • What was removing my joy?

After conducting a good look at myself, my business, and the route I was on, I recognized the only part of “my loves” I was abiding by was helping other people in their business and even that was really general. When I started to abide by my specialties, my loves and my flair, a niche was unveiled. Here was the landmark: I afforded myself permission to market in my style and have since produced plans to help other people market the way they see fit!

Isn’t it queer how those matters we snub can become something we adopt when we decide to consider it through different thresholds? I recognized I loved wittiness and writing. At the time, I simply didn’t recognize how to mix what I enjoyed into a business, let alone, enjoy every moment of it. By centering on the plan of attack that works for me, a dynamic and gratifying business evolved.

We have all listened to the words, “you can’t see the forest for the trees”. This appears to be a uniform challenge to all of us – I’m including myself. Don’t disregard the most visible in your specialties and your base knowledge.

Stop and consider what you’ve achieved, the expertise you have and the network of pros you have at your fingertips. For instance have you come from a computer background and want to go into your own business? Consider the pieces you have and formulate what you want from your background and base.

Here is a different hint for you. Do you believe we produce our businesses solo? Even while we have our home offices or an office space away from home, we’re humans – we require interaction, a slap on the back and other thoughts to bring substance, character and fun into our lives and our work. Do not work on it alone! Create a winning team.

I can’t say this enough – Whatever you do, do what you enjoy! Don’t blank out; giving yourself permission to produce your business/love and help others along the way.
