MLM Recruiting-Don’t Let Myths Kill Your Dreams
Our industry like any other is inundated with myths that if taken literally can hold any business owner back and wreck the opportunity for success. The myths don’t come from successful MLM people but from the people that can’t make it work, as its human nature to blame something else when someone fails. The truth is this doesn’t mean that negative statements are true, as there are many that are successful. However, those that didn’t ever take the time to learn what to do are voicing their negative experience and creating the MLM myths.
As well, there are those that have never tried an MLM business and are only repeating something they heard from people who have failed. This gives them the perfect excuse for not doing getting involved. When looking for advice, get it from those who are successful with MLM as they’ll tell you what it takes to be successful yourself.
Newbies need to know that the people who truly care about you want to protect your interests. As well, all of us need to understand that there is a phenomenon where people try to steal our dreams and visions. So what does that mean? Some people have good intentions and warn us about what they think are dangers that may not be. These people possibly have not learned the skills they need. Then there are those who are myth perpetuators that have had a bad experience.
To sift our way through all of this we need to remember that the person bringing up myths is basing them on their experiences and education. So when we hear that MLM don’t work, it’s coming from someone’s experiences and education.
The 3 myths that can kill our dreams:
1) Network Marketing or MLM’s should be done with friends and family.
When we hear someone say that we have to round up all of our friends and family for our opportunity in order to be a success, this is a myth. Really, look at traditional businesses. Do lawyers, doctors, car salespersons and retail owners drag their friends and family into their business? The answer is no, because we would never have all the professions staffed that provide our lives the things we need.
2) For success in MLM you will have to make recruiting your main focus.
When people say their success is only because of what someone else has done, that is a myth. When we work hard and move our product to customers, we will be rewarded. Recruiting for our downline is important, but not the only thing we need to do. The more we contribute (whether products or prospects), the more we will be compensated. We must market the product.
3) Success with MLM doesn’t require any training.
There are many myths out there, but the most damaging to an MLM business owner is this one, the education and experience myth. No matter what phase someone is at in their business, just beginning or struggling with a business, education is vital. We must be educated by people that have been through the trenches and are achieving success. There is no better teacher than experience. And if we can take advantage of another’s experience, we need to do so.
These are just a very few of the myths that can derail a dream of MLM success. We need to look at the source and understand that these myths can stop us in our tracks if we don’t know the real story.
