MLM Recruiting-Setting Goals And Expectations For Success
Life is busy these days and we are all trying to keep our heads above water both financially and as well as with our time. When we venture into MLM recruiting we need to know how to set goals and expectations for our business success.
If we don’t have goals and expectations we are stumbling around in the dark. To set goals we have to take expectations and translate them into the ‘what’ of what we want to achieve and the ‘when’ and be as specific as possible. For example, if you are going to look for a new business opportunity, your goals might include the niche you want to work in, the hours you want to work and the type of money you want to make, as well as what you want to invest.
Expectations
Expectations are very important and come into play in several ways. First, there is what you expect. What is it that you expect to get from your business? More free time? More money? More success?
Any or all of these things are good goals, but your expectation to achieve them must take into consideration that some of them will take time and tools. So, the first thing you have to do is to get it straight in your own mind. What is ‘being successful’ for you? Is it more time for yourself or your family, money or power? What do you expect to accomplish? How will this success change your life? Are you expectations realistic for the timeframe you’ve set and or are you expectations too big right now?
Once you have your own expectations under control, put them on paper and refer to them often. Then use them when you are making your plan. Compare notes between your goals and expectations and figure out if everything is aligned. If it isn’t, you’ll have to change the plan. Once the plan is right, you can move forward more quickly and with more success.
Goals
Here are some examples to get you started:
- “Find a profitable niche”
- “My goal is find a reputable MLM business in my niche, by May of 2009”
- “Reduce the number of hours I work by 10 hours per week in time for Billy’s 2009 Little League Season”
- “Spend only XX dollars on my business start up”
The best way to set goals is to word them simply but be specific. That way you can evaluate your success without trying to guess about it. Secondly you need to figure out just how to achieve your goals. Remember that your goals must be realistic or you will never reach them.
Figure out just how realistic your expectations and goals are, because you need to establish a plan to get to them.
Let’s take the first example and see what we can do with that one.
“Find a profitable niche”
To establish a workable plan for this goal you would need to consider the following questions.
- What are the top 10 niches?
- How do you find out what opportunities are available for each?
- Do you have all the tools needed?
- Will these opportunities require training?
- Is there mentoring available?
- Do you have start up capitol?
- Do you have advertising money?
- Do you have a budget?
- Do you know anyone who is doing well with a /specific opportunity?
You might come up with more questions that are more personal for you. For each goal set, you must determine how reasonable the goal is, how doable it is and exactly how you plan to get it done in the timeframe. Be honest with yourself when you are writing your plan. Then sit down and look over the plan and decide which ideas will work and which ones won’t compared to your expectations.
As you start to put your plan into action and look it over occasionally to be sure that you are still on target and decide if things need to be changed. Things may need to be changed to work around the unexpected.
The MLM business can be a great way for people to work from home and make a good living. If you are new to the business all the steps, choices of companies, training and tools may seem over whelming (even if you’ve been in it for awhile), but it doesn’t have to be. Getting and using good, correct information from people who are already doing well is the first step.
